Emergency Contraception

If you’ve forgotten to take your pill, your condom split or you’ve had unprotected sex in the last 72 hours then you may need emergency contraception (often called the morning after pill), and the sooner you take it the better. Emergency contraception is available free from Contraception and Sexual Health Services, some GP’s (family doctors) and selected pharmacies (chemists), even if you’re under 16.

Free Condoms!

Condoms are free!

Condoms are available to young people free wherever you see this sign in Hampshire.

Condoms are one of the most effective contraceptive methods and help to protect against sexually transmitted infection and unplanned pregnancies

Used correctly and consistently, condoms are up to 99% effective. Condoms can be used for oral, vaginal and anal sex and condoms come in all shapes, sizes and flavours. The GET IT ON condom distribution scheme is now running across Hampshire.

It means that you can get free condoms if you are under 25 from lots of different organisations, all you have to do is see a trained worker so make sure you call in advance to check that they are there.

Chlamydia Screening

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection. It affects men and women and you may not know you have it.

Left untreated, it may lead to infertility, but it is easily treated with antibiotics.

How you get Chlamydia:

  • By having vaginal, anal or oral sex with someone who already has it
  • Sharing sex toys
  • Its possible that it can be transferred to the eyes
  • A pregnant woman can pass the infection to her baby
